Question Fix It Center, Latest Update

    Hello all,

I had a problem with a icon issue for my skype program that was on my desktop. Each time I tried to double click the icon I kept getting a error message. So I went to the Fix It Center beta program installed on my computer, (Win 7 Ultimate 32 Bit) I started the Fix It program and it indicated that a update was needed. I clicked to update and it downloaded and installed itself and restarted the program. Upon starting I received the same message saying I needed to update the program again. If I canceled the update, the program closed. But each time I ran the program I am prompted again to update it. I have rebooted and same result. I ran windows update and nothing for the fix it program showed up. Any ideas or suggestions? As for the Skype program, I downloaded it again and reinstalled it and that solved the problem with the icon.

    Thank you
    Kevin

When I went to the Fix It Center I received a notification that the beta testing is now closed. This is probably why it no longer functions for you. I would uninstall this app and await a RTM candidate.

I wonder if this online Fix It Center beta has now taken the place of the original beta.

I was thinking that it should be removed but I thought I would get a warning or indication some how that the program ended or needed to be removed. But nothing like that, just the continual update message.

What was the original error message?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype?

I forget the error message for the Skype issue but I did download it again and reinstall it and that cleared up the problem. But the reason why the Fix It Center keeps telling me it needs to be updated even after I did update it. Any ideas?

    Thank you

Well I tried to start the program again and it did start without the message saying it needed to download a update. I went to run the Windows Time Zone feature and received a error number 0x803C0107 I checked Microsoft Support for Windows 7 and nothing was found.

Trust Microsoft to call the (beta, previously for Windows 7) downloadable program Microsoft Fix it Center Online and the online version (non-beta) Microsoft Fix it Solution Center

My previously downloaded beta Microsoft Fix It Center program was updated fine today; it's just no longer available to download for Windows 7.

Well the error message was when the time zone feature was run, I can not download the program for a reinstall but I hope no more problems develop.

I also had the same problem (endless repeating updates) two days ago. After reading the above, I just retried it and, indeed, the update now "sticks." However, in the meantime, I fixed the problem I was trying to auto-repair using a brute force approach.
