    Shadow copy storage space problem

I am trying to backup a very full SSD: 60GB capacity, 5 GB available. Keep getting failures in spite of removing all the useless junk that accumulates on the drive. The failures are for lack of space to do a shadow copy.

Is there a way to have shadow storage for C: on another drive so that the shadow copy can complete? I tried "vssadmin resize shadowstorage /For=C: /On=D: /MaxSize=70GB" but got the response "The specified shadow copy storage volume association was not found." I know that D: has plenty of space, but have no idea if it is possible to provide shadow storage on a different drive.

I was really just shooting in the dark because I cannot find any documentation on vss admin.

    Thanks
