Document information panel will not display

I am running XP on an HP laptop with Office 2010 Home version.

A couple of weeks ago I had a complete crash of MS Word and the application tried to recover. When it did, I didn't have my highly customized toolbar icons . I went to my latest weekly backup and retrieved the Word.officeUI file along with my Normal.docx template. The toolbar was back to normal and I thought I was set.

However, I found that when I tried to open the Document Information Panel (File-Info-Properties-Show Document Panel), I get the message "The document information panel was unable to open". I get the message on old files as well as new document files.

Does anyone know how to get my panel to display again? I use the panel extensively to put in data about the document.

I resolved the problem by uninstalling Office 2010 and reinstalling Office 2007 then using my upgrade to 2010. I was also getting a crash of Word when I tried to modify the quick access bar and that was resolved by the uninstall and reinstall.
