    Delete searchqu

How can I remove malware searchqu from its link with Internet Explorer 8 in my registry?  I deleted Internet Explorer 8 and tried to download Internet Explorer 9 but was told I still have Internet Explorer on my computer.  I got successful instructions through Google for removing searchqu from Google Chrome, but desperately need to remove it from Internet Explorer.  I assume it's sitting in my registry.  Thank you! Muriel

    Hi!
@Murielfoxaronson,my name is John, and I'm a member of the Searchqu Support Team. I'm here to help
When a software was installs onto your pc it offered two basic installs, typical installation,
which lists the add-on features such as searchqu default search, and Custom installation,
which allows you to select the add-ons that you wish to install. There's no need to worry if you did the typical install - this isn't a virus,
nor malware, and there's no need to Perform a virus scan against it.
In order to remove searchqu please follow the following instructions:

    1. Open IE and go to ‘Tools ‘→ ”Manage Add-ons’.

    2. Choose ‘Toolbars and Extensions’ and uninstall everything related to Searchqu from the list: Searchqu toolbar, UrlHelper Class, etc.

    3. Choose ‘Search Providers’ → choose the search engine you would wish to have and make it your default search provider. Additionally, select ‘Web Search’, click ‘Disable suggestions’ to disable it.

    4. Go ‘Tools’ → ‘Internet Options’ and select ‘General’ tab. Click ‘Use default’ or enter your own website name, google.com or other instead of searchqu.com. Finally, click ‘OK’ to save the changes.

we hope this has been a help for you

    The Searchqu team support.

    Muriel, Welcome to the Lounge.

I am very interested to see if the steps offered here actually work. This does indeed sound like a very invasive app that instills itself over all other apps and does not allow a user the choice any more. Muriel please try the steps shown here and post back to let us know if it works.

I have never found a search app that requires so much effort to eliminate it from my PC. To say this is invasive is IMHO an understatement.
