How do I retain Favorites Sort order when copying Favorites between PCs?

Systems: 2 laptops running Windows 7 with IE8.

I have a large number of Favorites on laptop 1 which I wish to duplicate on laptop 2.

The favorites on laptop 1 are organised (?!) as follows:

I have a number of folders within the Favorites list which I organise by dragging and dropping.
I also have a lot of links at the main Favorites level which are organised by date, with the last added at the bottom of the list. This is the way IE positions the new links as I add them by dragging the link to the Favorites pane. This works fine for me as I often want to open recently used links - and I just have to look at the bottom of the list.

I want to maintain this layout when I duplicate the Favorites on laptop 2.

Unfortunately, IE reorders the list of links into alphabetical order on laptop 2. It doesn’t matter whether I Copy or export/import the links - they always get re-organised.

I don't believe the issue is IE version related as the same thing happens if I try to copy IE 6 Favorites (on a desktop PC) to my laptop.

Is there a way to maintain the sort order of Favorites when duplicating them on another computer?

You help would be much appreciated

    Geoff

I don't think you can, the sort order is a registry thing and you are not copying that. I have had a look through the registry and can't find the favourites sort order, maybe someone else will have an idea.

    cheers, Paul

This way you are sorting by numbers instea of names, the folders within these folders sort by name, but can be sorted by number or date as well
    Thanks John
