    IE 8 Security Popup Fozen

From time to time IE 8 will pop up a dialog titled "Internet Explorer Security" with the message "the web site wants to open a window outside of protedted mode...", the name of the program is SilverLight.Configuration.exe. There are two main buttons "allow" and "D'ont Allow".

This dialog is ALWAYS totally frozen, the only way out is via Task Manager and kill IE.

Ironically, I only have this problem with the MSN website.

Is there a fix to this?

    ArthurH, welcome to the Lounge.

I would suspect that Silverlight did not install correctly. Silverlight is MS version of flash. It would make sense that an MS web site would use Silverlight. I would uninstall Silverlight through Control Panel, Programs and Features, then reinstall directly from MS. Download the file, disconnect from the internet, shut down your other running apps including security apps, then install directly from the downloaded file.
