    Password caching won't

I'm running IE5.5 sp2 on Win2k ... for some reason it has stopped storing autocomplete entries for forms and passwords ... and in a possibly related issue it has stopped remembering my POP3 server's password ... nothing I've previously entered is remembered for the next time I go there ... including within the same internet explorer session. Anyone got any ideas?

Sorry Leif, that doesn't help - I'd already looked into the more obvious ones.

Have you turned off this function, cleared both passwords and forms entries, and then closed IE. Start up IE and turn back on these functions.
Sometimes by stoping, clearing and restarting will KICK start things back into action.

I've just completed a completed reformat/rebuild of my PC .. it works now. I had tried those things you mentioned, plus I'd tried the registry hack that does the same as that (from a MS knowledge base article I found), and then I tried undoing those hacks ... still no joy. I tried upgrading, downgrading, reinstalling and uninstalling various versions of IE ... still no joy. A clean start was the next step. Thanks though, it's nice to know that there is help somewhere.
