"We've updated Windows Live Hotmail ..."

Every minute or so (sometimes less frequently) when I am using my Hotmail account (Windows XP SP3, Firefox 3.6.18) Hotmail pops up at the top of the page "We've updated Windows Live Hotmail" and then suggests that I exit and re-sign in or else refresh the page and save a draft if I am composing.

This is making Hotmail almost unusable.

Is there anything I can do to stop this absurdly frequent updating? I searched as best I could in this forum but found nothing on the topic.

My machine is a locally built Intel-motherboard-based desktop with 3GB+ of RAM and a 300GB hard drive with lots of space free on it and is otherwise giving no trouble.

Have you tried logging out of Hotmail, shutting down FF, & clearing your TIF?
