Latest batch of Vista updates failed to install

5 of the latest(13 July 11) batch of Vista updates failed to install.
    They include:
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2507938)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2532531)
Security Update for Windows Vista (KB2555917)
Update for Windows Mail Junk E-mail Filter [July 2011] (KB905866)
    Update for Windows Vista (KB2533623)

I have been through a couple of shutdowns/restarts to see if that would help but no luck.
I'm running Vista Business N with all the (other) updates to date installed successfully.
Anyone else have similar problems? I've done some searches but can't find anything logged on the MS site.
    TIA
    Joe

Hi Joe, and welcome to the Lounge!

Have you tried disabling your security software while updating. Antimalware software can interfere with some updates so it is best disabled when updating.

Also, after disabling your security software, try installing only one update at a time.

You can also try to reset Windows Update. And this MS Knowledge Base article might be helpful.

Also check out this WS Lounge thread, and this one .

And here is another that might be helpful.

Thanks for the greetings, the advice and the tips.
I opted to install the updates one at a time. The first one took took 2 re-starts to install successfully and then rest went one at a time.
I just hope the next batch reverts to the normal trouble-free install.
    Thanks
    Joe

Windows update can sometimes be choosy about installing updates. If this happens try downloading the desired\failed updates to your desktop and installing manually from there.

The best way to download the update it to DE-select (Take tick out of box) the update then click on the "More Info" link for the update and follow through to get the actual file to download. This way you can disconnect from the Internet BEFORE disabling any\all security software with peace of mind, and then install the updates one at a time. Just delete the update file after installation, or hold it for any future need.
