This CNET Article article describes a new 1 TB HDD that is compatible with most laptops. For those looking for higher capacities and backward compatible with older laptops this might be just the ticket

I fail to see where "For those looking for ... backward compatible with older laptops this might be just the ticket" enters into this. The article itself is incorrect: "all other current 1TB or larger drives, including the previous version 1TB of the Scorpio Blue, come in the 12.5mm thickness standard and therefore are not compatible with most existing laptops."

I'd save $50 and get a Samsung. < This is a 9.5mm drive that's already been selling for weeks.
