trying to re-install word 97 SR2 to a new (to me) lenovo T60 using xp. Have done so successfully previously, but the new install won't handle HTML. Can't find the common thread. Several write-ups I googled talk about SR-2 "breaking" HTML but don't seem to show a solution. Also doesn't square with my previous successful installs. Anyone aware of "the" solution. If not, is there a best other editor for HTML postings? Thanx.

2011-07-25 18:46Are you editing the HTML as plain text? That certainly should work. However, I think before Office 2000, Word didn't really have a good understanding of how to render HTML.
Or are you looking for the export filter or Save As format? That might have been part of a converter pack separate from Office itself.
Anyway, if you want to support browsers other than IE, Word's output can be problematic...
