    W7 and Yahoo Mail

I'm not sure exactly where to post this. I am using W7 and the latest version of Yahoo Mail. When I click on Yahoo Mail, I keep getting a screen that indicates I need to upgrade my browser. I have the latest version of IE 9. I can click on Go to Yahoo Mail anyway. But I don't like getting the nag screen.

    Any ideas?

    Mel

    Hi Mel,

Towards the upper right of the Yahoo! mail screen should be a link called Yahoo! Classic, try setting it to that and test.

    Hello,

I am able to use Yahoo mail with IE 9 without any issues. Maybe you need to check if you do not have the site configured to be viewed in compatibility view.

How do I configure the site for compatibility view.

    Just adding to my question:

This is the screen I get when I click on Yahoo Mail:

    You're almost there...

The newest version of Yahoo! Mail works best on modern browsers. While you
can still access basic email functionality like reading and sending email, to
access other features like Yahoo! Messenger, photo slideshows, and the reply
bar, you'll need to upgrade your browser.

Upgrading is free and it only takes a few moments:

    Not ready to upgrade?
    Continue anyway

It reads like you are currently using Classic View, as I am. It works with all my browsers. I've only seen the nag screen once in recent weeks, is yours happening at every login?

Yes. I am not using classic view and do not see how to return to it.

When I click on compatibility view it goes to my inbox, but I am not saving any clicks

Once in compatibility view, you need not click the compatibility view icon again, when getting back to yahoo.

    Ruirib:

That appears to have done the trick. Compatability mode worked and I rebooted and it works fine. You would think the new Yahoo Mail would work without having to do that, especially since they advise you to upgrade your browser.

It's weird that you need that, Mel, because for me Yahoo mail works without the need for compatibility view, when using IE 9. I am using the new interface, though. Maybe that's where the difference lies.

Oh well, what matters is that it works for you and the nag screen is gone for good.

    Regards

    Rui

I'm glad that's sorted, I just had to use Yahoo! customer care to get switched back to Classic after trying to work out what was happening

    This how my Yahoo looks:

    Yahoo.JPG

This is, as I understand, a new yahoo version or interface, as opposed to what satrow named the Classic View. This is a rather recent development, I understand (I am not a very regular Yahoo Mail user).

This one looks better than the previous and functionality is better organized. Even for a non regular user, as I am (though the bing bar which I installed a couple days ago may change that a bit), this version is clearly better.
