Re: TXT to NUMBER? (2000 SR1)

What exactly are you trying to do? If you have a single cell that contains text that you want to convert to numeric, then you can select the cell and then use Cell on the Format menu to make sure that the cell is formatted for a number. Then either press F2 or click on the number in the formula bar and press enter. That should convert it to numeric. If you have a range of cells that are entered as text, then first use Cell on the Format menu to format the cells as numbers, then do the following:

1- Select any empty cell and enter the number 1.

2- Use Copy from the Edit menu to copy this cell.

3- Select all of the cells you want to convert to numbers.

4- Select Paste Special from the Edit menu.

5- In the Operation section of the Paste Special dialog box click on Multiply.

    6- Click on OK.
