Possible to roll back IE9 to IE8?

Hello, I just got a new computer with Win7 and IE9, my work sites only work with IE8. Is there a way to roll it back?

It depends on how IE9 was installed. Go to Control Panel | Programs | View installed updates. If Windows Internet Explorer 9 is listed you can uninstall it and IE8 should be reverted automatically. If it is not listed then it was integrated into the Windows 7 install and you can't uninstall it.

Have you tried running the sites in compatibility mode? You can tell if compatibility mode is available when there is an icon that look like a torn piece of paper at the end of the address bar.

    New member here.

I have the same or similar issue. I just got a new computer with windows 7. Best Buy tells me that it comes with IE9 and that IE 8 is no longer available for download anywhere. My business stuff will not work with IE9 under any circumstance. Are they right about IE8?

I don't know about IE8. My work site is fine with IE9 even though it is not supposed to work.

Thanks for the reply. My work programs do not work with IE9 at all.

Does anyone know if it is true that IE8 is no longer available for new computers?

It depends. If IE9 was integrated into the build as opposed to installed as an update you can't revert to IE8. Check your installed updates. If Windows Internet Explorer is one of the updates then uninstalling it should revert to IE8 automatically.

Thanks. Re-reading your first post, it looks like I should check for "installed updates" under programs, under control panel?

Control Panel, Programs and Features, View Installed Updates. If IE9 is here you are in luck. If it's not, sorry!

Did you try using ie9 compatibility mode when using your companies web sites. Click the Compatibility View button on the Address bar.

The computer is at Best Buy right now while they transfer data from my old computer. I'll try your suggestion when I get it back. Thanks.
