Office Files in a Secure Environment (Office 2000)

We are working with Office 2000 on a classified network and have an interest in being able to transfer unclassified data to the unclassified network using sneaker net. According to the Operational Instruction under which we work, all the Office file formats potentially carry spurious data that could be classified and, therefore these files cannot be transferred.

My questions is whether this is true and what authoritative sources can be referenced to either prove or refute these claims?

    Thanks.

It is true, but, it is possible to work around the restrictions.

    This <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.addbalance.com/usersguide/metadata.htm>article</A> is a good starting point.
