How to copy a (paid-for) DVD to keep original safe

When I try to play back the movie,I bought & payed for.The copy will not play in any of my player's in the,Mint11 OS.I looked for & typed in;DVD decryption library in the,Package Manager. But to no avail.I get the same results.
    Some suggestions would be,greatly appreciated.

    chowur,
Hello...I use a program (pay for) called DVD-Cloner8 Cloner8 If you look around you can "catch a deal", think i payed about $25USD The program is not without "Bugs" but if you use it in it's basic function "beginner" it works ... There are many "Expert" functions.. But like i said some bugs.. because of all the encryption (always changing) Remember only legal to copy ones that you own ...as you have said.."Backup" Regards Fred

Yes, I use it in Windows. Didn't realize you wanted it for installing in Linux. If you don't have a Windows PC where you can install it, I guess the advice is not applicable. Sorry.

...You definitive source along with all the apps you'll need.
Linux should be easily supported at the above site.

DVD Decrypter v3.5.0.0 is still a decent app for the backing up of non Blue-Ray movie DVDs.

Does the original movie play OK? If not, use VLC and if that doesn't work, you're putting the DVD in upside down!

What did you use to rip the DVD? Try dvd::rip or Handbrake, I think those are both in the Mint repositories.
