Word '03 analyzing large document when opening

I am using Windows 7 and working on a (big) Word 2003 document. Whenever I open this document and before it fully opens on screen Word on every session insists on going through a analysing procedure.
Could someone please inform me as to what is being analysed and how to permanently turn this analysing feature off?
I never had this analysing annoyance while I was using Win XP.

Can you provide some details on what type of analyzing procedure is taking place? - what messages are appearing onscreen?

Is this the EULA procedure it is going through? If it is the EULA, you may need to log in as the Admin and accept the agreement. Then it will be OK for all users.

However, if you have a newer version installed in addition to W2003, then you will need to hack the registry.

Please give us some more information to go on.

Terfar - unfortunately this website can't cope with screendumps, but I'll try and describe in detail tomorrow (word-for-word) what is going on; I'll copy the message out tonight.
As my computing knowledge is really poor, I have no idea what a EULA is.

As I am bad at describing things, I am willing to email you a screendump of this analysing message, if you agree to this send me your email address.

For reference, EULA stands for End User License Agreement. Not sure whether that is relevant.

For the record here is the only message that appears on-screen before the Word document appears.

Searching the phrase "word is finishing analyzing your document" on the web yielded:

    (1) PDF-related add-ons seem to be the most frequent cause. Disable all add-ins to see whether that helps. (This may include moving templates out of the Word\Startup folder.) If that solves it, try selective re-enabling the most critical ones until you find the culprit. (mentioned here among many other places: Taking too much time in open the file - Microsoft Answers)

    (2) If not covered by #1, disable any "office plugin" feature of your security software.

    (3) Tools > Options > Editing, turn off "Keep track of formatting" (mentioned in MSKB here: Word seems to stop responding when you import XML by using the eXtyles add-in)

    (4) Turn off SmartTag features (not sure where this is in 2003)

    (5) Tools > Options > General, turn off "Update automatic links at open"

Hope one of those fixes it.
