    Realistic System Requirements

I'm sure the MS requirements for the min system on the marketing page is probably unrealistic. Does anyone know what a realistic system requirement would be? I'm running a PIII 450, 256MB RAM with tons of hard drive space. As it is now, Win2k can take 3-4 minutes from power-on to finally being logged in. Is XP as bad? Should I be upgrading for this one?

Your box looks adequate. My XP-RC1 boots and is internet ready in less than half the time of W2k. Included here is time to fire up Norton AV 2002 and PPPoE DSL access, about 70 sec.

    Hi
Xp is very much the fastest Windows to load yet, but it shouldn't make a great deal of difference to your operation. Surely you leave your computer on all the time, only switching off the monitor screen?

Have an old DOS app over there under W2k, need to hop off occasionally.

Very useful link Dave. Especially the software audit.

Thanks for that reference - just answered a lot of questions I couldn't resolve anywhere else.
