    How to stop reappearing message?

In IE 9 a message keeps appearing at the bottom of every webpage. It says: Speed up browsing b disabling add-ons. With two options: Choose add-ons and Ask me later.

I want to get rid of that message, please help me find the way to do this.

The Petenetlive site post referenced in post#3 tells you to use the Group Policy editor (gpedit.msc). That is only available on the Pro SKU or higher. It is not available on Home Premium or lower.

See IE9 Add-on Performance Advisor for a description of the feature and how to use it.

Joe P, that was a good site and the explaination was clear and to the point. I liked it so much I signed up for their newsletter.

Thanks Ted, but I don't think I want to kill it. The information I received from Ruirib and JoeP explained how to set it so it won't pop up again. I think that will be sufficient, but thanks anyway. If I ever decide that I want it dead I will refer to your link.

The first link in my post was the same info as Rui and Joe. The second link was a way to kill it.

By the way, the notice does have a few good uses. If you ever find yourself frustrated by the slowness of IE9, or it becomes slow to launch, that notice can point to the add-ons which are at the roots of these issues. Much more effective than going to web forums and complaining about how slow IE9 is, or how it hangs when launching. (Not that anyone here in this thread complained in those terms.)

In my own IE9, I found that the main drag on browser performance and launch times was the Google Toolbar, which I simply uninstalled.

Still, I usually use Chrome when online, because it performs better, is more stable, and may offer additional security compared with IE.

In fact this thread links an article stating just the opposite. That IE9 is actually more secure.

Thanks Ruirib, I changed the time from the default 20 seconds to 90 seconds, so the message doesn't appear as often as it used to. I wanted it to go away completly, is there a way?

The default, I understand, is .2 seconds, not 20, so I am not really sure what value you are using...

Great site Ted. I will do what it suggests and see if that little bugger will disappear for good.

    Thanks.
