Thumbs down "FoxitreaderOcx.ocx faild to load!" Problems!

I was no longer using Fox PDF Reader but it would pop-up online to capture PDF files I was downloading. My default reader is Nitro PDF Reader *and it is set as the default. I no longer have Adobe Reader on my computer. I would notice that at times this message would pop-up about "FoxitreaderOcx.ocx failed to load!" on your computer. I deleted it because I was no longer using Fox Reader and saw no need to keep that*part on my computer since the program was no longer on my computer. My default reader had been working fine up until I removed this file. *Now I have reinstalled the Fox Reader but I didn't choose it as my default reader and it's blocking my Default from catching downloaded PDF files and printing them on my computer. Has anyone else had any similar problems as this one on their computer? Now none of the readers are catching the click when I try to download PDF files or print them. Any help will be appreciated!

    Thanks!

amazon132011, Welcome to the Lounge and thanks for becoming a poster.

I suspect when you reinstalled Foxit, it automatically set itself as the default reader. I do not use Nitro, but there should be an option somewhere within Nitro to once again set it as default.

I also suspect when you uninstalled Foxit the first time (you say you no longer use so I assume you uninstalled it) it left info around your PC. That's why many of us have switched to an uninstaller rather than the app uninstaller or Windows uninstaller. I use both Revo Uninstaller and Absolute Uninstaller. These 2 apps do find much of the left overs left behind. I would also use CCleaner to check for leftovers after an uninstall or update.

Thank you for your answer, I use CCleaner and will be trying out the other two recommendations you mentioned. I did set Nitro PDF as my default reader and unchecked the box in Foxit Reader not to be my default reader. Thanks again!

you might check startup programs in Ccleaner and disable Foxit if it appears in there
