Backing up data on Windows 7 operating system

I have Windows 7 installed on my PC & use an External Hardrive for backing up my data.

I would like to backup my Data on DVD as well so that if something goes wrong wih my External HD, that I still have a backup.

Can anyone recommend any software that I can use to backup my data on to DVD that is reliable?

Why not use the software you are using now?

    Hi Joe

Thanks for the reply. I would like to backup on to DVD as well in case the external hardrive fails for any reason and would therefore like a program that would allow me to do so

    Regards

Howard, Whatever S/W you are using to create your Images on your ext HD can also create an Image to DVD's. I am not sure about Win 7 Backup and Restore, but I know Acronis can back up to DVD's and I suspect Macrium Reflect can as well.

    Hi Ted

Thanks for the reply. These are quite expensive backup devices. I am looking for additional software where I can burn my Data files on to DVD as as extra backup in case my External HD crashes. I need software that allows multisessions

    Regards

I haven't tried it personally but there is an option to write an image to one or more DVDs.

If you are just talking data rather than a whole system Image, just as with an Image, I believe most Imaging S/W has the capability of incremental backups to optical media. Unless huge amount of data are changing regularly, I would think CDs would be more cost effective than DVDs.

    Hi Ted

Thanks for the info. I have done some research and Although there are many software programs, I have decided that I will use Nero Lite for my data backups

    Hi Ted

I also downloaded Burnaware free to backup my data files. It allows multisessions and it more than adequate for my needs
