Can't save web images in IE9 as .jpg, only .png

When I right-click an image in IE9 and select "Save image as..." the only image type available is .png, or sometimes .bmp

    Hi okbrown,

    Welcome to the Lounge.

There seem to be several possible causes for that situation. Have a look at the first FAQ here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFAQ.htm#BMP
It will provide advice and there are links with additional suggestions for a fix at the bottom of that first FAQ page.

That could be because the image on the site is a .PNG image..

Try Right Clicking on my image in this reply and you should see that it can be saved either as a JPG or BMP
