Videos play on YouTube but not Facebook

My friend's computer plays YouTube videos fine, but on Facebook the videos show only momentary flashes of the images. (the audio plays ok though).

I had her uninstall/reinstall flashplayer, did not make any difference.

She is running IE9.

Any ideas?

Still have not resolved this. As far as I can tell, both Youtube and Facebook use flashplayer for videos. Could there be some setting in IE that affects Facebook but not Youtube? or a setting in Facebook?

If he's using Windows 7 it could be that he may be using IE 32 bit for viewing some videos and ie 64bit for others. Easy way to test is to click on the Start Orb in win 7 and find IE - there should be two versions, 'plain' IE (32bit) and IE 64bit. Try one and see if you can see videos on You tube and Facebook and then try the other.

I had this issue with You Tube and the videos from Windows Secrets actually until I figured it out.

I looked into the 32/64 bit thing, that was not it.

I did manage to find the problem though. I turned off hardware acceleration both in IE9 settings and in Flash settings, and that fixed it.
