    Excel hyperlink problem after sorting

I sort one of my Excel 2002 spreadsheets several different ways using data in different columns. I recently added hyperlinks to the data in one of the columns and then, to my horror and disbelief, discovered that when I resorted the data the hyperlinks no longer matched their original cells!

Googling this issue - which at first I couldn't believe - confirms that it is a known Excel problem.

However, does anyone know a way to overcome the problem please?

You can try using the hyperlink function instead...

Thanks. Yes, if I create two new columns for the friendly name and link address, I can use the hyperlink function to create the 'active' cell. Since all the cells will be sorted together, this should overcome this very annoying - and surprising - problem (which Microsoft acknowledges here).
