Can't Send Message (WIN NT SR1)

    Good Evening All,

I will supply the code and anything else if necessary, but will give the short version first.

I am using the SendObject to send an email to our help desk. It works fine on 30 users computers. On user 31 though, the following message:
Microsoft Access can't send a message for the reason stated in the previous alert.
Resolve that problem, and then send the message again

    (There was no previous alert).

Has anyone seen this one before? Is there something generic I need to do or do you believe it is possibly(ummmm....) my code?

As far as I know, there is nothing different about her computer's hard/soft / ware.

    Thank you for your help.

does the user who is logged on have a valid email profile for that computer?
in my experience - Outlook/access. using the sendobject results in a sent item being placed in the sent items folder so the mailbox needs to be available at the time of sending.

Yes sir. Her email (Outlook using Microsoft Exchange) is fine. We send other emails and receive emails on that computer with her profile.

    Thanks for responding.

    Re: found it !

All systems are go as far as her profile is concerned. Her email works fine.
To clarify a bit- there is a button on a form that has SendObject.... etc and this works fine on everyone's computer except hers.
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks for trying FatherJack !!

    Re: found it !

I must admit to being lost for a suggestion now, you offered the code a while ago, not that i think this is a problem as you say it functions on other machines, but it may be worth posting it.

Have you tried logging the user into another machine to see if the problem travels with her/him AND tried logging a user who is able to get it functioning on another machine into the offending PC?

This will at least narrow the fault to a machine or possibly an NT account !?

    clutching at straws now !!

    Re: found it !

As soon as she gets in (it's 0nly 7am here on the left coast) we will try her on different machines.
I will also try logging on as me on her machine and see what happens.

If no go, I will post back.

Thanks again for your patience !!

    Re: found it !

Ha! It was still early afternoon yesterday!!

Well, a nice gentleman on another newsgroup named BukHix gave me this solution at the following link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar...-US=gn=0=Access can't send a message=4=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH=ACC

Here's where the gray hairs start sprouting though:
The user came in this morning, logged on and guess what ?? (You already know)
The problem was gone. The application works just fine. No messages, and the email gets sent as advertised.

    I love ?? Access. Don't you?

    Thanks again for your help.

    Re: found it !

I'm not sure you can blame this one on Access. The SendObject macro action or VBA method aren't really Access, they're higher level interfaces to a Windows API call and they aren't peculiar to Access (well, the macro action is, but it is also just an interface to the API), which is why the link you posted refers to the security patch that can cause this behavior.

BTW, what service pack do you have applied to NT, and is it the same on all the machines?

    Re: found it !

Thank you Charlotte for your concern. We all have WIN NT Service Pack 5. We will be upgrading to 6 in 2 weeks.

Everything is still in order today. Can't figure out what happened, but at least I now have the link if it happens again.

BTW: Wonderful board you have here !!
