Running 32 bit as 64 bit programs

I received this from the PcPitstop newsletter. http://techtalk.pcpitstop.com/2011/0...win-64-bit-os/?

    Has anyone tried this fix?

I have a coupler of 32 bit graphics programs like a CAD and Photo editing program that I run in Windows 7 64 bit and if this patch works as advertised it would make things easier for me as the two programs I mentioned on occasion use a lot of RAM..

    Thanks guys..

    Banyarola,

I did a little searching and it seems that this may work. See this Wikipedia entry {scroll down the Windows section}.
Apparently this program switches a bit in the .exe file that tells the program it was linked in large address space aware mode, at least that is what I gather from my research. I'll be interested in anyone's actual experience with this program as I'd like to try it on Excel. Unfortunately I'm currently traveling and won't risk my laptop's installation on experiments while I don't have another machine available.

Well, Rg, I just want to know more before I try it.

Sometimes I load a lot of RAW images into my graphics program for editing and a lot of them are megabytes in size before I reduce the file size and I have had occasion where the program crashed because I ran out of RAM.

    It's an interesting concept..

Thanks again and don't forget the beer on your way home...
