    Open line at page break

I have a question regarding page breaks and the empty line at page break in Word 2007. Example: I write a two page document. Page 2 starts with a new paragraph. Now I edit page 1 resulting in a few lines less on page 1. The first pagagraph on page 2 is now automatically brought back to the bottom of page 1. But the two paragraphs at the bottom of page 1 have no open line between them. WordPerfect (a decade ago!) used to put in an automatic extra open line if the above were to happen. I am sure I am just missing a setting in Word. Can you help?

You can avoid this problem by not using blank lines between paragraph and instead use the preferred method of setting a spacing after paragraph in the formatting dialog. I usually use 6pts but Word 2007 defaults to 10 as shown in the graphic.
