Win 7 homegroups vs Windows Live Mesh

I now have completed my transition on three pcs from Win XP to Win 7. I want to keep many of the folders on the three pcs synced, including some data folders (primatily Word, Excel, PowerPoint, photos) as well as my Outlook 2010 .pst file.

Question: which is better for this application: using the sync capabilities of Windows 7 Homegroups or the Windows Live Mesh facility in Windows Live? ...or are there pluses and minuses for each.

    Thanks.

    Hi globalist,

The Windows 7 Homegroup feature was designed as an easier way to share folders and files between Windows 7 PCs. It does not include an automatic sync feature. You have to copy updated files from one pc to another.

Windows Live Mesh does provide for automatic syncing of your files. Check this MS site about Windows Live Mesh for more info.

If you are interested in another program for syncing your files from one machine to the other and from the Web, check out Dropbox here.

I use LiveMesh and I like it a lot. It will not only allow you to synch the files, but will also give you 5GB of cloud storage, if you choose to use it, and also a way to connect from any of the computers to any of the others.
    Works pretty well, IMO.
