    IE8 keeps getting Office 2000 pop-up window

I have a thinkpad T400 Notebook running XP Pro

I am using Microsoft Office Small Business 2007

I am using Internet Explorer version 8

    Here is the problem:

When accessing some websites I get a pop up window saying "The feature you are trying to use in on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Microsoft Office 2000 Professional' disk and click ok."

I'm not using Offoce 2000. How do I get rid of this error? I dug around and ffound an Office 2000 disk. I couldn't find the file.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Brian

Does Office 2000 show up in the list of programs in Control Panel > Add/Remove programs? If so, download Revo Uninstaller and use it to remove Office 2000 using the moderate option.

I would not be surprised if a version Office 2000 trial version hadn't been installed originally on the PC.

Thank you! Yes there is Office 2000 loaded on the laptop. I downloaded Revo uninstaller, is that a safer option than just doing the remove in the Add or Remove Program screen?

I have found that Revo Uninstaller finds many thing (orphaned items) left behind by Add Remove Programs. Most app uninstallers are very poor at removing everything and usually leave behind traces of those apps. 3rd party uninstallers do a better job of finding these orphaned items and elliminating them. If the uninstall requires a reboot, do not reboot untill after you finish the advanced scans with Revo.
