unable to play Windows Secret videos- ie8 32bit vs IE8 64bit----solution

For months I wasn't able to play the video links that are contained in the Windows Secrets newsletters. First I thought it was some Firefox setting because the videos would play in IE...but not all the time. Then I thought maybe it was some Windows 7 setting...or IE 8. Loooong story short I think this is the solution.

If you are using ie8 64bit you may have an issue playing the video links from Windows Secrets and possibly from you tube. It's easy to test. If you're using Windows 7, click on the Start orb and look at your programs, you should see two IE's - One just says IE (32bit) and the other says IE (64bit). Open "plain" IE and try the videos, then try them using IE 64bit.

This solved it for me. Hope this helps someone.

Rick, thank for sharing your story. IE 64 Bit is not quite ready for prime time. Most of the add ons have not been updated to 64 Bit. Most of us here in the Lounge do recommend the 32 Bit version of IE (I use IE 9 32 Bit)

Currently there is only a beta version of 64-bit Flash. Flash is required for Youtube.
