Unhappy Canot install Desktop Experience into One Note 2010

The download of Office Professional 2010 worked fine. But, when I attempt to open One Note a dialog box says the Desktop Experience must first be installed by going to Control Panel etc., etc. which instructions do not work. Any ideas? All the MS KB/ articles on this subject are related to Server 2008 only. Thanks

Are you installing Office in Server 2008 R2? Desktop Experience seems to be a Windows Server thing.

Are you running Windows 7 in a Virtual Machine?
