    Re: File/Close (2000 SR1)

This is a known problem that was supposedly fixed in an earlier release of DOCS (I think in 3.72 or 3.8), but I still have the problem running 3.9 build 230. I usually only have the problem if I right-click on Word in the taskbar and choose close or if I hit the "X" in the top right corner. I don't think it has ever happened when I actually selected File-Close.

I found a DOCS KB article regarding this issue when selecting File-Close when you are in Print Preview. (<A target="_blank" HREF=http://websupport.hummingbird.com/clearexp_cgi.exe/solution.htm?probdesc.objid=268440812>#SD005356</A>, if you have a username/password) I couldn't find the KB article referring to the EXACT problem that you described, but I know I just saw it a month ago. I'll let you know if I can find it.

    I know this doesn't help you much, but maybe you can harass DOCS and they'll fix it. <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/rofl.gif border=0 alt=rofl width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/laugh.gif border=0 alt=laugh width=15 height=15> <img src=/S/rofl.gif border=0 alt=rofl width=15 height=15>

I no longer use DOCS, but it seems to me that the closing and saving of documents really is handled by macros in the DOCS global template, and that updates on the back end without updates to the user's template might leave the problem uncured. Something to double check.

I'm just checking to see if I understand what you're saying (sorry, I get easily confused): the updates to the user's template would be made by running the wordin2000.dot file, right? Because that file is the DOCS global template, right?

    Thanks,
    Becky

What I meant, which probably wasn't completely clear, was that the user would need the latest and greatest global template from DOCS because I suspect that how the saves work is determined by the global template, and not by the rest of DOCS.
