    Windows Live Messenger Error

Received this error from Live Messenger earlier today, needless to say I was thinking what the heck has happened?

After a restart, the error had gone (and I've done multiple checks for malware)

Has anybody else seen this error?

Various Microsoft cloud based properties were have connection problems last night & early this morning. From what I read the resolution involved DNS changes. DNS changes always take a while to propogate.

    Thanks Joe.

I have now found references to the problem but it was the (erroneous) error message which totally threw me.

I know the hosts file can be used as an attack vector so naturally I was rather concerned.

I'd guess that Messenger incorrectly identified what the error was. Since your hosts file looks fine I would not worry about it now.
