    Word Merge Data Header

Somehow, one of my Word templates has acquired a Word merge data header. As a result, when I open the template, the Mail Merge task pane displays. Is there a way to remove the data header from a document or template?

    Thanks.

From your mention of the task pane I am assuming Word 2003. In the mail merge task pane, change the document type from a merge letter to a normal word doc. If this is from a .dot template then you will need to do this in your template.

Thank you. I'm using Word 2010. I suppose I should have called it the Mail Merge Wizard. I don't see where I can change the document type to a normal Word document. I see the document types listed as Letter, Email Messages, Envelopes, Labels and Directory. I see a similar listing in Word 2003. Am I missing something?

With your document open, go to the mailings tab. Click on the button to start the mail merge. Pick Normal Word document. Save the document.

Despite the claim that the Ribbon puts everything out front, this one remains cleverly hidden.
