    New Steve Gibson Free Utility

    Hi All,

I just ran across this new, at least to me, utility by the venerable Steve Gibson called Securable that tests security features of your CPU, i.e. Bitness, Data Execution Prevention {DEP} and Hardware supported virtualization. Nice!

P.S. I've been a fan of Steve since he came out with Spinrite a loooong time ago!

Actually, this utility has been around for a while. When Microsoft first announce XP mode for Windows 7 they said your PC had to be hardware virtualization capable. This utility and others soon surfaced to let people know if XP mode was a possiblilty. Later, Microsoft removed the hardware virtualization requirement.

Yeah, Belarc Advisor will tell you all of that too, and so much more.
