    Microsoft updates for Office 2007

I have just had Microsoft updates for office 2007 installed from the auto updates options.
My question is why these updates when I have office 2003 installed and never had office 2007?

There are parts of Office apps or Office viewers in most versions of Windows. Perhaps your Windows version has some viewer from Office 2007 that needed the update.

If you installed the Office file compatibility pack you'll get Office 2007 updates.

    Thanks Joe and Ted.
Not a problem just curious as my sig suggests. I don't have office file compatibility pack installed so still strange that I should get updates for 2003 for a program that was not even invented when 2003 came out

You must have installed some Office 2007 component - a viewer or shared component or an Office add-in, etc.

Oh well Thanks Joe and Ted.
Maybe its the office file validation thing windows update installed. as it the only thing that wasn't on the install disc when installed 2003.
It isn't a problem really so will just remain curious.
    Thanks for your inputs though
