    Windows 32 and 64 bit

Does someone have a nice simple explanation as to why there is a windows 32 and 64 bit version and for what purpose? Thank you for any responses.

The 64 Bit version of IE is not quite ready for prime time. Most Add Ons have not been updated for 64 Bit. In addition the 64 Bit version uses an older rendering engine (I think this is the proper terminology) which tends to be slower than the 32 Bit version. I did initially try the 64 Bit version, but like so many others, was having some problems. If you look in All Programs, you will see both versions listed. Simply select the 32 Bit version, right click and choose where to pin a shortcut to make it quick and easy to start.

note: You will notice I am using Chrome 14 today. I am working in my Win 8 installation and the new IE 10 that installs by default in Win 8 has a couple of bugs that are not as easy to work around.

Actualy the 64 bit version is highly usable with the exception of flash. I use IE9 64 bit as my default.
If you hate flash, then 64 bit is for you.

    Phil,
You can check it out here Flash Player and here Wiki .Also you can use other browsers like Firefox, and not use any "IE" ... I use "8" sometimes, but like Firefox better... has many more tools (Add-ons) and for me is just plain better. Regards Fred
