I am trying to copy a file into a subfolder of program files. I have taken ownership of the subfolder, made sure I am administrator, changed the folder to read/write, given myself full control of the folder, made sure there is no file of the same name there, tried turning UAC off, tried turning the antivirus program off.
I still get access denied. What else is there to try?

Where is the file being copied from?
What is it's name & extension?
Is it open?
What parameters does it have?
Have you tried Ctrl-C & V?

2011-09-26 10:22It is a DLL which is being copied from the desktop. It was downloaded as an email attachment. The intention is to replace a file in an application's folder which is under Program Files. The original file has been renamed (I could do that) so it does not need to be replaced. The file is not open. I have tried both copy/paste and drag/drop. The result is always 'access denied'.

Right click the file and select properties to see its parameters.

2011-09-26 14:19Problem finally solved. I didn't realize that you had to reboot after turning UAC off. Once I did this, the copy worked. Thanks to everyone for the help.
