    Breaking Links (Excel 2000/1)

I can't find a way to break links in Excel 2000 to external worksheets. I noticed in XP that they have added a "Break Links" choice to the Edit > Links dialog box. There is no such entry in the O2K version. I went to Options > Tools > Calculation dialog box and unchecked the Update remote references button, but it does not keep this choice. Whenever I go back into the workbook again, it is rechecked.

I had posted a message about the notification to update links and how to stop it, and I ran into the same problem. I guess if you want to break the links, and you are not using Excel XP, the best way is to get Bill Manville's add-in or download the MS one. There is a MSKB article about this and there is also a thread about 4 months old I think.

Or if you have time and feeling sorry you can check the source in the Links dialog and then use Find to find all the places where you have that string and delete it manually.
