    File Copying Using Windows Explorer

When I copy a folder of files (say mp3) from one drive (c to another (external HD) the destination files become "read only".
Is there a way to copy files using Windows Explorer so that the destination files are not "read only" ?
    Kind regards
    samali

This is not normal behaviour. I have never encountered that problem, unless the files are burnt to a CD/DVD where they become read only by the nature of those disks.

How do you do the copying?

Sorry for asking the obvious but are these files "read only" to start with?
