    Importing from Windows Live Mail into 2010

    I'm not sure if I did something wrong here, but;

    I have a lot of WLM and different email addresses. I imported it into Outlook 2010. It imported all the folders into one email address as [sub] addresses.

    What did I do wrong or not do to causethis to happen?

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow

    Hi Chuck,
    They should have been imported as .csv files. (Comma Separated Value)
    If you keep all your contacts saved on one account they are easier to manage. Mine are stored in a Hotmail account, then when I send using any account with WLM 2010 the address is added automatically as I sign in to WLM with my Hotmail Account, which gets deleted after adding my others. Don't know if OL 2010 works the same.

    George, as usual, MS has its own ideas and ways. Word is if you export to Exchange it just "appears" in Outlook -- excluding Contacts, which, since it is a separate import didn't concern me.

    Well the export went fine, but when I opened Outlook...all in one PST/Account.

    Since they promote *both* desktops, they ought to have this a bit more smoothly worked out!

    Well, I found part of the answer: I had the default e-mail set properly, but the default data file was wrong. I had never thought of those as two separate settings.

    That would have moved them to another folder, but I suppose then you have to import each e-mail address separately and then...

    Regards,
    Chuck
