    Thumbs down Sticky's Positions

    Hi Loungers,
I have been looking for 'Stickys' and finally found them in this part of The Lounge, at the foot of the tree. (nearly).
As with most rules, most people tick they have read them without doing so, myself included. The majority of people who join, do so just to pose a question and simply vanish. Others tend to really enjoy decyphering some of the questions, give an answer then find it was not what was originally intended.
BUT back to my reason for posting. I looked at the Lounge's Menu, the top 5 to date are,
    Databases - 145,274
    Spreadsheets - 117,105
    Word Processing - 87,754
    Microsoft Outlook - 47,857
Visual Basic for Apps - 37,928
this seems most likely where new members will post. Not one has a 'Sticky'

You bring up a good point. If there is information useful for all sections of the site, a sticky may not be best. A sticky is only present in one section, unless we create a number of separate threads and stick them all separately - lots of work, and god forbid you want to make a change. Thats 12 threads to update just to fix a typo.

However, there are also things called "announcements". We could create a single global announcement, and this would be something that appears at the top of every section just above where the sticky's are displayed.

I'll talk to Joe and Gerald. We could use the announcements to get certain messages across. Or in the case of the rules, there should really be a link for that somewhere prominent in the header as well. I bet they might prefer one of these options also.

Roadrunner, The top 5 Forums that you listed are mainly the original Woody's forums that existed before joining with Window's Secrets. If you look at postings in the last two years, I think you will find that most posts are found in the Windows Forums with Windows 7 leading the way.

I have to concur with Jerry. During the Windows Secrets Lounge lifetime I would think Windows is the highest visited forums, and most likely Win 7 or Win XP would top the list.

We have some incredibly old threads. But there are people still running Office 2000, so it's hard to choose what to discard...
