    Windows Search not starting

    hey fellas ive got the same problem cept when i go into services there isnt a window search service listed. i did find the indexing service it was disabled so i restarted it to automatic and clicked start and rebooted but still same problem im running a very old compaq evo n600c laptop but all in all its working great. completely up to date xp home sp3, no viruses no walware all thats good. got any ideas?

    Rather than resurrect an old thread I've moved this to a new thread. Generally, you should start your own thread.

    Are you sure you've installed Windows Search 4.0?

    Type the following in the run box:
    regsvr32 wshom.ocx
    regsvr32 jscript.dll
    regsvr32 urlmon.dll
    [restart]

    or

    Run:
    regsvr32 /i C:\Windows\Srchasst\srchui.dll
    regsvr32 /i urlmon
    regsvr32 jscript
    right-click windows/inf/srchasst.inf > install
