    "I'll re-post correctly" 0X80000003 failed?

    I dban nuked the HD and installed XP home, I thought went well but trying to get to device manager I get (app failed to initialize 0X80000003)??

    How can I fix this?

    Can I run sfc /scannow in safe mode ?

    You can give it a try. Does the event viewer provide anymore details?

    Does this happen immediately after installing XP and before installing any other application programs?

    Have you checked the Event Logs to see if there is more information?

    Do you have the most current drivers for all your devices?

    It keeps re-booting.

    I'm going to re-install XP again.

    It's done!
    I ran across 'parted magic' -- live CD and used it to format the HD, the XP install went fine and was able to get all the other apps installed and up-dated.

    I also made him a image backup :-)
