I'm running sfc /scannow now to see if that helps.

I need a good free virues program and AVG has alwas worked in the past....'O' well, we'll see shortly if this works.

As good as AVG FREE is, it would appear to the bystander that they really don't want you to use the FREE version.
When I go on a service call, on a PC I've never seen before, I always want to take with me the very latest version of AVG 2012 FREE.

I find the easiest place to get the latest version is from "File Hippo". In fact I get their latest updated files every night in the email.
Here's the direct link to the File Hippo, AVG FREE download page.
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus_32/

Need the 64 bit version? Just change the 32/ in the link to 64/ and then the link will take you to the 64 bit download.
I always carry both versions with me, on my Utilities disk.

    * There are definitely TWO versions and they are NOT interchangeable.

    Cheers Mates!
