    Create Table from Imported File

I know I am not following the right procedure in trying to get my questions answered. I am totally new with this and it is hard to teach old dog a new trick. I wrote a question 2 days ago, and 'deadeye81' was kind enough to respond to my question. Which was great help.

I am mainframe guy and do not know too much PC software other than Word, Excel, and some PowerPoint. I am trying to learn ACCESS. With help of deadeye81, I was able to import Excel file into ACCESS. Now could someone guide me how to create a TABLE from this imported file? Please forgive my ignorance. I am determine to learn it and have bought a book about ACCESS and still having difficulty following the direction.

    Thank you very much.

Wasn't a table created when you imported the file?

I am not sure. I imported it successfully, and the imported file has ACCESS extention. Does that mean it is already in the TABLE? How do I then create another TABLE from this imported TABLE to create the relationship?

Maybe you want to explain how you did the import and what you have now? Your terms leave me in doubt as to what you actually have now...

Just to add a little to the previous replies. To import from Excel you would need to first create an Access database yourself.

You don't create a database by doing the import..rather you import into an existing database. If the import worked, the data would have to go into a table..there is nowhere else for it to go! Whether it goes into a new table, or gets added to an existing table is a choice you make.
