After trying to go on the HTG site after about a second or two the entire screen changes over to one big advertisement...
I just exited out with Task Manager....
Anyone else notice this and if so, what's with it?

Works fine for me. No adverts that I can see.
I just tired it again and got the same thing. If I backspace back it stays for a second and goes right back to the advert...The advert address bar is How To Geek...
Maybe others will have the problem besides me.
Here's a screenshot...Each time it's a different ad.

Maybe they show the ad depending on your IP. I don't get the ad, that's for sure.
I don't think so.
It only happens on that site and started today.
All other sites work fine...
I just did a maleware bytes scan and came up clean..
Something is screwy....
I'm gonna try it on my laptop.

RR, when I am on the main page of HTG it's fine.
It happens as soon as I click on a story link and then I get the story and a second or two the ad fills my screen.

No difference for me.
I've seen that big ad on occasion previously too, but not recently.
They may have had complaints about it. But I know it was present at some point.
I don't use a whole lot of ad blocking in the browser so that may be a factor too with regard to seeing the full page ad.
Well Clint, I can tell it's some kind of Google click ad but this is the first time it has happened to me...
It just takes over the whole screen and shows that little ad like in the screen shot I posted..
Either way, no matter what you do it keeps taking over the monitor so you can't read any articles without that thing showing up..
I wonder who is responsible for it....

Well guys, I just went on HTG and the popups stopped.

This may be related. Several months ago I clicked on a link in the HTG daily newsletter and was greeted with a rather disturbing pornographic image. Taken aback, I exited and re-clicked the same link. Same result. I then refreshed the page and the image was gone. Exited again and retried the newsletter link. Porn image again. I clicked on a "notify moderator" icon and sent a brief message explaining what had happened. Within a few minutes I received an e-mail from the moderator asking me to send him a screen shot of what I was seeing, which I did. He immediately replied, apologizing for it, but said that he wasn't seeing the image on the site himself. Even though it was around midnight my time (I have no idea where he was at time zone-wise), he awakened someone higher up, who e-mailed me asking if I was utilizing an adblocker (I was). He wrote that he was going to check on their server, but didn't expect to find anything, as he suspected that what I was seeing was related to my adblocker, and thanked me for my concern. The next day the image was gone. I have not had this happen before or since. I was impressed with how quickly HTG got to checking on the possible hacking of their site. Interestingly, the image only appeared when clicking the link; going to the site in the normal way did not result in the image being seen. So I guess that I'll have to ask if you're using an adblocker, although I have to admit that I'm not smart enough to understand why that would cause me to see the porn image.

Well, as I said above, it stopped.
I first noticed it when I clicked on a link in their news letter and then I went to the site and it kept happening..
I did notice it was a Google double click address..
I didn't get porn, just an ad and when I refreshed or clicked again it would be a different ad...
I'm not using an ad blocker. Just the pop up blocker in IE....
