Item under the Privacy tab in Internet Options

    Hi,

If you open the Privacy tab under Internet Options, there is a section named Location. The first entry under Location reads "Never allow websites to request your physical location." Currently, the box for this item is unchecked. Should I leave it unchecked or should I check it?

    Thank you.

What is your preference? I just feel safer not allowing any web site to request my location. Seems a no brainer to me. If I want someone or something to know my location I will provide it myself. I check this box!

Thanks Ted. I guess I was making a simple problem more complicated than it was.

Midnight, I am using IE 9 with Windows 7.

The only way I see this being useful is if you are carrying a laptop/netbook and want location based services (and let the world know where you are!)

It is of no use whatsoever for your typical desktop PC although you can have a giggle at where some websites think you are

Nope. I connect to my Bank site, my PayPal site, my mortgage bank site and and my credit card sites with no problems at all. I use IE 9 with all updates. I can also use IE 10 in Win 8DP to connect to all these sites.

    Thanks Ted...

Actually, I have a stat counter on my website and when I check the stats it gives me the locations of where the person is from..
It's only a general location, like the nearest town or city..It doesn't give me any idea of who the person is or the EXACT location, like their actual address or street..

If you went on my site, I could check my stats and see that I got a hit from Rochester or maybe the nearest city near you..
I would have no idea it was you because others in the surrounding area could also be going to my site..

Anyway, maybe you know all this and if not, I will gladly send you a screen shot of my stats...
