    Blank Workbo (Excel XP)

I recently "upgraded" from Office97 to OfficeXP, and now whenever I click on an existing Excel file to open it, it opens OK but a blank workbook is also opened in a second window. WordXP does not do this, so is this behaviour a bug in ExcelXP or is it designed to do this (why?)

When you say click on an existing file that means you are out of Excel and you start Excel by double clicking the Excel file. Well this is normal behavior since Excel XP now has the ability to open multiple workbooks in separate windows. If you don't like this, you can ask Excel to open all workbooks in the same window, I think, I still don't have Excel XP, but will install it soon.

    Try something under Tools|Options...
