    Printer frequently offline

On a new HP desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium with a 5 year old HP deskjet printer I find that at every attempt to print the printer is offline. It is set to the default and the HP drivers for 7 are installed. I have checked for new drivers and I have uninstalled the driver and rebooted and reinstalled to no difference. Any suggestions. Thanks!

You could possibly check your advance power options in 'Control panel /power options/change power settings (in the selected option. On a desktop the High performance is the best option to choose and adjust) /change advance power options'. Check the USB suspend option and set to disable. This may stop the USB going into sleep mode when the USB port is not being used.

Thank you! It appears to have fixed the problem.
